Title: Multimedia Services in Wireless Internet
Authors: Cai, Lin

Keywords: Wireless Communication
Issue Date: 2009
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons,
Abstract: The book begins with an overview of the wireless Internet architecture, and presents the main challenges in supporting multimedia services in wireless Internet. To understand the performance over wireless bottleneck links, first of all it is necessary to have a good knowledge of the characteristics of the wireless channels and, more importantly, how the channel profiles affect the network performance. To facilitate performance analysis and simulations, tractable and reasonably accurate channel models are essential. In Chapter 2, we introduce Markov chain-based wireless channel models that encapsulate fast fading, frequency selective fading and shadowing.
